(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Dungeon Craft is a puzzle RPG that was recently released on the App Store by developer Stanislav Buchkov. The game has you putting together a team of heroes to fight to free the land of an evil curse. Dungeon Craft is a merging-style game at heart. Each level is essentially a boss fight. Random heroes will drop from the top of a 5×4 grid-style game board. As you merge two of the same heroes, you create a new and stronger fighter. Every ten moves, your characters on the screen will automatically attack the boss. The object is to kill the boss before filling up the screen with non-matching fighters. It’s a simple mechanic, but gets pretty tough as you progress. Later on, new power-ups and characters will be thrown in to keep things fresh. I’ve been having fun with Dungeon Craft so far. There’s quite a few levels 140) to keep you busy and GameCenter leaderboards to play against others for high scores. You can upgrade your fighters too, but unfortunately you need to use the premium currency for any kind of upgrades. All in all Dungeon Craft is a solid little merging game. It’s one of those simple to play/hard to master titles. If you’re looking for something a little unique. This one is worth checking out.
