(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Endless Wander is a roguelike RPG and the first game on the App Store by new developer First Pick Studios. In this game you play a Novu as you try to find your sister that’s been trapped in a mysterious portal. The first thing that I noticed with Endless Wander is how absolutely polished this game is. The UI is well done, the pixel art is beautiful, and controls are tight and easy to use. The main gameplay loop has you going into the portal and fighting rooms of enemies until you reach a boss. Clearing a room will grant you a new rune (ability) that you can use to beef up your load out. As you progress, you’ll be able to upgrade your stats with the ability to lock-in more runes. Endless Wander is an absolute gem with a charming set of characters and a beautiful world to explore. Of course, the game is F2P, so there are the usual IAPs for crystals (currency), optional characters, and a battle pass type of thing. But, in my time playing, I never felt the need for any of them. The game feels really balanced as far as the economy goes. If you’re looking for a new roguelike RPG this holiday season, Endless Wander is definitely worth checking out.
Endless Wander is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
