(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Hi-Ball Rush is a reaction-based arcade adventure by the indie team at Jyamma Games. The easiest way to describe this title is that it’s the classic game of Pong turned up to 11 with a full story mode. You control two characters at the same time with each character acting as a “paddle” as you try to knock an orb back and forth across the screen. The object is to get the orb through each level without missing or killing the thing. Levels are full of traps, power-ups, magnets, etc. with the orb getting faster the further you go. Things can get pretty tough when trying to maneuver around obstacles. It took me awhile to actually get the hang of things. Hi-Ball Rush is an absolute blast to play. It’s fast, frantic, and has a ton of charm. There’s honestly way too much to fit into a single paragraph. I’ll just say that the writing is witty, the hand drawn visuals are beautiful, and there’s a ton of content with things like upgrades, power-ups, skins, and even an Endless Mode. Do yourself a favor and download this polished little gem.
Hi-Ball Rush is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
