The Pixel Wanderer iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

The Pixel Wanderer: Survivor is a survival RPG that was recently released on the App Store by Roman Mazur. The game throws you in a post apocalyptic scenario where it is up to you to stay alive. There’s not much of a tutorial or story, so you are kind of on your own to figure things out. You travel from area to area killing zombies and scavenging resources. You have a limited amount of space in your backpack, so you’ll be heading back to your safehouse often. As you level up, you’ll be able to craft new weapons and tools and even upgrade your safehouse. The main game loop is actually pretty fun. The fighting is pretty basic, but I liked going out and finding new resources to upgrade my base. TPW can definitely be a bit grindy with foraging through the same places over and over until you level up so you can reach new areas. The game does have an “energy” system that you use to travel. You burn energy running to each area. Or you can “walk” there and not use any energy, but you’ll have to wait it out. All in all, The Pixel Wanderer is a decent side-scrolling survival game. It may be a bit rough around the edges, but it’s still a good time if you can look past its flaws. If you’re a fan of survival games, this one may be worth checking out.
