(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Rover Quest is an open-world adventure game that was recently released on the App Store by Sion Roberts. The game has you controlling a rover that was sent from earth to search for a group of scientists that have lost contact on an alien planet. At first glance, Rover Quest was almost passed over. The visuals are primitive, the controls are clunky, you name it. Everything was telling me to close the game out and delete. But, I decided to stick with it for a few and actually ended up really liking the game! You start off a little slow. Your rover isn’t equipped with much. But, as you find the scientists and start completing missions, you can upgrade all sorts of stuff leading you to find new areas that you couldn’t get to before. There’s something really charming about Rover Quest. Sure, it doesn’t have a ton of polish, but it has some pretty fun gameplay and a decent little story. I had fun just cruising around the open world and exploring at times. So, if you’re looking for something new to play and don’t mind some charming clunkyness, Rover Quest is worth taking for a spin.
Rover Quest is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
