Unknown Knights iOS SNAPP REVIEW!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)

Unknown Knights is a narrative driven RPG that released on the App Store last week by indie developer, TeamArex. You play as a crew of Knights and Soldiers as you go on a journey to fight the Dark Lord. I actually debated on this game at first. I’ve got to really be in the mood for narrative driven or text-based games. Plus, the App Store screenshots definitely didn’t do the game much justice. I’m really glad I decided to give this one a shot. Once I got through the first tutorial-ish first stage, the game really started to open up. Every decision that you make has its own consequences and rewards. You choose which route that you want to go, whether to stop and rest so you don’t lose Soldiers or press on in hopes for better loot. The fighting is in real-time with just a few buttons. There’s a lot of strategy involved with learning your enemies and timing your actions. I’ve got to say that I’m really impressed with Unknown Knights so far. The game is enormous with over 290 stories/events, 350+ battles, and a ton of hidden surprises. With the maps being randomly generated, there’s a ton of replay value. Unknown Knights is one of those gems that only come around on the App Store every so often. If you’re at all a fan of RPGs or strategy games and don’t mind some mild reading, this is definitely worth picking up.
