(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
I may be a little biased with this game due to the developer, being my old partner from SNAPPZILLA.com, but I’m really proud of him and wanted to show my support.
Kaihi (Kaihi means “to avoid” in Japanese) is a hyper-casual avoidance game by indie developer, James Bolton. You play as “Motoki”, an Onigiri just trying to survive in this digital world. Unfortunately, hungry jaws and crazy eyes aren’t going to let that happen. The object is to make it through each room by dodging an endless onslaught of enemies for 30 seconds. Controls are simple with just tapping on the screen where you want to go. The game starts off fairly easy, but things ramp up pretty good after a couple rooms. Luckily, you can pick up different power-ups to help you along your way. You can also collect coins that can be used for new characters, each with their own unique abilities. The developer did a great job with this game. The characters are cute and the soundtrack is catchy. Most of all, the game is fun to play. If you’re looking for a fun time-killer to have on your new iPhone 11, don’t “Kaihi” this one! (get it?)
