Eisen iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Eisen is a mech simulator that was recently released on the App Store by developer Hideki Hanida. I’ve been waiting for this one to come out for a little while now. Basically, the screenshots and description tell you exactly what it is. You control a mech as you take on an endless onslaught of enemies. The game looks and plays beautifully. I absolutely love the look and feel of this game. The game feels so real with the haptic feedback rumbling as you are pulling levers and pushing buttons. As you take out enemies, you have your choice of 3 upgrades that you can stack throughout your run. Unfortunately, you lose all those upgrades after you die. Eisen is such a fun game, but there’s not much of it. It’s basically just a high score chaser at the moment. You try to survive as long as you can and earn a score at the end of your run. That’s it. The game almost feels unfinished. There are no permanent upgrades, no additional mechs, no leaderboards, nothing to work towards. I will say that this game was originally slated for a February 28 release date and then recently the date jumped to mid-March. So, this may be an accidental release. Let’s hope it’s the latter. Because Eisen has a lot of potential.
